’05-’06 Senators Take Care of ’77-’78 Rockies in Four Games

The 25th-seeded ’05-’06 Ottawa Senators made quick work of the 40th-seeded ’77-’78 Colorado Rockies by defeating them in four games. A balanced Sens attack was lead by longtime Senator, Daniel Alfredsson. He posted three goals and four assists for seven points. The big man on defense, Zdeno Chara, pitched in offensively as well with one goal and four assists. Goaltender Dominik Hasek was stellar in net behind the solid defense, posting a 1.25 GAA and a .945 SV% with one shutout.

The Rockies could not muster much offense, but they were lead by 11-year NHL center Paul Gardner. He posted three goals and one assists for four points. 13-year NHLer Gary Croteau posted three assists. In net for the Rockies, Doug Favell posted a 4.50 GAA and a .899 SV%, but posted save totals of 48 in Game’s 1 and 2, 45 in Game 3 and 61 in Game 4.
