I thought this ’88-’89 Calgary Flames team was going to be good, but their offensive absolutely exploded in this series, including a 16-goal outburst in a Game 2 win. They were led by Swedish winger Hakan Loob who posted six goals and six assists for 12 points in the four games. Forwards Joe Mullen and Doug Gilmour also posted stellar numbers with four goals and seven assists for 11 points and one goal and nine assists for 10 points, respectively. Big defenseman Al MacInnis also posted some good offensive numbers with four goals and six assists for 10 points. This ’88-’89 Flames team also posted some outrageous plus/minus ratings with defensemen Brad McCrimmon and Dana Murzyn leading the way at +17 and +16, respectively. Goaltender Mike Vernon was also very good in the four games, posting a 1.50 GAA and a .941 SV%.

The ’19-’20 Bulldogs were literally killed in every aspect in this series. Their goaltender, Frank Brophy, was ambushed in every game as he posted a 6.25 GAA and a .856 SV%. Meanwhile, their offense didn’t too much. Defenseman Harry Mummery posted two goals and two assists for four points, but had a plus/minus of -20, which was tied for the worst on the team with defenseman Ed Carpenter, who also posted one goal and one assist for two points. The ’19-’20 Bulldogs do have a Hall of Famer in center Joe Malone, who posted two goals and one assist for three points on the series.
