The ’13-’14 Los Angeles Kings’ trademark defense and goaltending did not appear in this series. However, their inconsistent offense did. They scored only five goals in the four games and only one player score more than one goal, which was Anze Kopitar who scored two. Defenseman Alec Martinez and forwards Jeff Carter and Justin Williams were the only other Kings to score, each with a goal a piece. The usually solid two-way, defensive style of the Kings in this series only ended up with one player finishing with a positive plus/minus rating, which was defenseman Jake Muzzin who finished at +1. Also, the usually very good Jonathan Quick was not that in this series. He posted un-Quick-ish numbers with a 3.57 goals against average and a .885 save percentage.

Meanwhile, the ’88-’89 Calgary Flames continued to roll through their opposition. They have now gone 8-0 in this tournament after two rounds. The Flames had five players post series-high five points, including Hakan Loob, Joe Mullen and Doug Gilmour. Defenseman Brad McCrimmon continued to play ‘plus’ hockey with a +8 rating in the four games, upping his tournament plus/minus rating to an incredible +25. Right behind him was his defensive partner Dana Murzyn who was a +7 this series, upping his tournament plus/minus rating to +23. Goaltender Mike Vernon was even better in this series than he was in the 1st Round. He posted shutouts in Game’s 2 and 3 in this series and finished with a goals against average of 1.25 and a .927 save percentage, both of which improved his overall tournament numbers.
