Pekka Rinne was the star of the ’10-’11 Predators shocking sweep of ’61-’62 Maple Leafs. via nhlsnipers.com
Pekka Rinne did not perform well in the 1st Round, but against the 2nd-seeded ’61-’62 Toronto Maple Leafs, Rinne was a brick wall. The Leafs were held to only six goals in the four game sweep with no player scoring more than one goal. Hall of Fame defenseman Tim Horton and Hall of Fame winger Frank Mahovlich led the Leafs in points with three. Horton registered three assists and Mahovlich registered one goal and two assists. Forwards Red Kelly and Dick Duff were two of four players on the Leafs to post two points. Goalie Johnny Bower played well in net, stopping 92.9 percent of the shots he faced, but allowed three goals a game.
As I said before, Rinne was out of his mind good in this series after a poor 1st Round. He posted a 1.50 goals against average and an incredible .956 save percentage in the four games, with a shutout performance in Game 3. The balanced attack from the 1st Round remained balanced in the 2nd Round, but was a bit less productive. Defenseman Shea Weber and winger Martin Erat lead the Preds in points in the four games with four points. Weber scored three goals and added one assist in the four games and Erat had one goal and three assists. Longtime Predator David Legwand scored the series clincher in overtime in Game 4, which was his second goal of the series and six of the tournament.
