The 15th-seeded ’73-’74 Philadelphia Flyers took Game 1 with a late game-winning goal from Bill Barber, but would lose the next three games by a combined four goals. They staved off elimination with a 4-0 shutout performance from legend Bernie Parent in Game 4. Parent had a good series, posting a 2.83 GAA and a .900 SV%, but his team couldn’t muster enough offense. ‘Cowboy’ Bill Flett, surprisingly, led the Flyers in points in this series with his two goals and four assists for six points. Right behind him was Bobby Clarke, who posted three goals and two assists, and Jimmy Watson, who posted five assists. Dave ‘The Hammer’ Schultz, besides totaling 19 PIM in the six games, added three goals.
As the headline says, ‘The Finnish Flash’, Teemu Selanne, led the 18th-seeded ’06-’07 Anaheim Ducks in this series with his eight goals. With this performance, Teemu now puts in him in the running for the Maurice ‘Rocket’ Richard, Art Ross and Conn Smythe Trophy. Andy McDonald continued to be a vital piece of the Ducks’ offense here in the 2nd Round, by posting one goal and six assists for seven points. Captain Scott Niedermayer had a pretty good series, posting two goals and six assists. His defense partner, Chris Pronger notched one goal and five assists, and continues to be at the top of the tournament leaderboard in assists. The offensive depth continued to improve for the Ducks as only three players have not registered a point, including goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere. Speaking of Giguere, he did not have the same series he had in the 1st Round. But, he was still very good. He posted a 2.83 GAA and a .924 SV% in the six games.
