’74-’75 Scouts Will Represent Extinct Kansas City Franchise in 2015 UNP After Defeating ’75-’76 Scouts in Six Games

Just like in the inaugural Ultimate NHL Playoff, the ’74-’75 Scouts will represent the extinct Kansas City Scouts franchise. In the inaugural UNP, the ’74-’75 Scouts were the #44 seed and they will be that again in the upcoming tournament. They were swept in the first round of the inaugural UNP by the #21 seed, the ’99-’00 St. Louis Blues. It took the ’74-’75 Scouts three overtime winners to win the series over the ’75-’76 Scouts. The goalies had a tough start to the series. Peter McDuffe for the ’74-’75 Scouts and Denis Herron for the ’75-’76 Scouts were making a hell of a lot of saves, but were still allowing a lot of goals. Herron allowed five goals in a loss in Game 5, but posted 61 saves. McDuffe did get a shutout in Game 4 stopping 32 shots. Then, in the series concluding Game 6, both McDuffe and Herron were the top two stars of the game with McDuffe allowing only two goals on 59 shots and Herron allowing only three goals on 65 shots.
