- ’69-’70 Oakland Seals (22-40-14, 58 points (4th in West Division), Lost in Quarterfinals)
- ’75-’76 California Golden Seals (27-42-11, 65 points (4th in Adams Division), DNQ for Playoffs)
- ’71-’72 California Golden Seals (21-39-18, 60 points (6th in West Division), DNQ for Playoffs)
- ’74-’75 California Golden Seals (19-48-13, 51 points (4th in Adams Division), DNQ for Playoffs)
- ’72-’73 California Golden Seals (16-46-16, 48 points (8th in West Division), DNQ for Playoffs)
- ’67-’68 Oakland Seals (15-42-17, 47 points (6th in West Division), DNQ for Playoffs)
- ’70-’71 California Golden Seals (20-53-5, 45 points (7th in West Division), DNQ for Playoffs)
The ’75-’76 California Golden Seals served as the #38 seed in the inaugural Ultimate NHL Playoff. They took on the 27th-seeded ’79-’80 Minnesota North Stars in the 1st round of the inaugural UNP, but were eliminated in six games. They were competitive enough to take two games of that series and both were one goal games and one of them was in overtime.
Players to Watch:
- G – Gary Smith – The goalie spent four seasons with the franchise with his best being the ’68-’69 season where he posted a 2.97 goals against average, which was second best only to his ’71-’72 season (2.42) when he won the Vezina with the Chicago Black Hawks.
- RW – Al MacAdam – During the ’75-’76 season, he had the second-best individual season, point wise, for a Seal in the franchises history. He posted 32 goals and 31 assists for 63 points.
- C – Dennis Maruk – Partnered with MacAdam for the ’75-’76 season, he posted the third-best individual season, point wise, for a Seal in the franchises history with 30 goals and 32 assists for 62 points.
The tournament begins tomorrow! The 1st Round will take place today and then carry into tomorrow. The Semifinals may be Saturday, Sunday or Monday, I don’t know yet.
