Nice to actually see a winning record from a team in a qualifying tournament. That has been sparse with some of these franchises. Anyway, the ’05-’06 Atlanta Thrashers represented the extinct Atlanta franchise, the second extinct Atlanta franchise, in the inaugural Ultimate NHL Playoff. They were the #37 seed and were eliminated by the #28 seed, the ’09-’10 San Jose Sharks, in six games.
Players to Watch:
- LW – Ilya Kovalchuk – Don’t really need to explain.
- RW – Marian Hossa – Don’t really need to explain.
- C – Marc Savard – Don’t really need to explain.
Those three, along with Dany Heatley, are by far the four best players to ever play for the Thrashers.
The tournament begins tomorrow! The 1st Round will take place tomorrow and then carry into Friday. The Semifinals will be Monday.
