Here is a little description of each team in the tourney:

- ’86-’87 Quebec Nordiques (31-39-10, 72 points (4th in Adams Division), Lost in Division Finals)

- ’82-’83 Quebec Nordiques (34-34-12, 80 points (4th in Adams Division), Lost in Division Semifinals)
There is some serious talent on these teams and this probably the first of the qualifying tournament’s that I have looked forward to. The ’83-’84 Quebec Nordiques represented the extinct franchise in the inaugural Ultimate NHL Playoff. They were the #33 seed and were swept in the 2nd Round by the top-seeded and eventual champion ’76-’77 Montreal Canadiens. They swept the 32nd-seeded ’37-’38 New York Americans in the 1st Round of the UNP.
Players to Watch:
- The Stastny Brothers – Anton, Marian and Peter are central figures of the Nordiques franchise during the 1980s.
- LW – Michel Goulet – The Hall of Famer spent 10+ seasons with the Nordiques, including four seasons where he posted 100+ points. He finished with a career high 121 points in the ’83-’84 season.
- C – Joe Sakic – A legend of the game and a Hall of Famer is most known as a member of the Cup champion Avalanche, but was a true superstar for the Nordiques after his rookie season of ’88-’89.
The tournament begins tomorrow! The 1st Round will carry over into Thursday and the Semifinal will take place on Friday with the Final on Monday.
