Quick Update: Extinct Franchises Qualifying Tournaments Completed; Current Franchises Qualifying Tournaments Beginning Soon

I don’t know an exact date for when I’m gonna start these, but here is the order in which the Qualifying Tournament’s for all existing NHL franchises will be completed.

  • Winnipeg Jets
  • Columbus Blue Jackets
  • Minnesota Wild
  • Nashville Predators
  • Arizona Coyotes
  • San Jose Sharks
  • Washington Capitals
  • Ottawa Senators
  • Florida Panthers
  • Buffalo Sabres
  • Vancouver Canucks
  • St. Louis Blues
  • Dallas Stars
  • Calgary Flames
  • Anaheim Ducks
  • Carolina Hurricanes
  • Tampa Bay Lightning
  • Philadelphia Flyers
  • Los Angeles Kings
  • Colorado Avalanche
  • New Jersey Devils
  • Pittsburgh Penguins
  • New York Rangers
  • New York Islanders
  • Chicago Blackhawks
  • Edmonton Oilers
  • Boston Bruins
  • Detroit Red Wings
  • Toronto Maple Leafs
  • Montreal Canadiens

All of the ’14-’15 seasons are now available at whatifsports.com, so these tournaments can commence. However, with four teams still left in the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs, their tournaments cannot be completed until their season ends. I do think, though, that by the time I reach the first of the four teams left that the playoffs will be over. Once the season is over and all of the Qualifying Tournaments are completed, then I can reveal the seeding/bracket for the 2015 Ultimate NHL Playoff. Their won’t be many adjustments from the inaugural tournament. The only changes will be based off a current franchise passing an extinct franchise in seasons or the team that wins the Cup that will move up somewhere in the rankings.
