2nd-seeded ’08-’09 Blue Jackets Defeat 3rd-seeded ’12-’13 Blue Jackets in Six Games After Losing First Two Games

The 3rd-seeded ’12-’13 Blue Jackets got some good goaltending from Sergei Bobrovsky early on in this series. Bobrovsky stopped 59 of 60 shots against in Game 1 as Marian Gaborik and Fedor Tyutin both posted a goal and an assist to lead the offense. In game 2, Bobrovsky was not nearly as busy as he stopped 30 of just 32 shots against. It was R.J. Umberger that led them offensively this time as his goal and an assist propelled them to a 3-2 win and 2-0 series lead. The 2nd-seeded ’08-’09 Blue Jackets rebounded by winning 4-0 in Game 3 as Steve Mason pitched a 34-save shutout performance. Wingers Rick Nash and Jason Williams both posted a goal and an assist in the win. Antoine Vermette scored in overtime of Game 4 for the ’12-’13 Blue Jackets in a 2-1 win to tie the series up 2-2. Then, in Game 5, Mason stopped 44 of 46 shots against as the ’12-’13 Blue Jackets ran away with it, 5-2. Nash potted a hat trick in the win, including two in the second period. Then, Mason pitched his second shutout of the series in Game 6, 2-0, to clinch the series. He stopped 38 of 40 shots against as Nash and Vermette score the lone goals.
