Then, they were swept by the 5th-seeded ’83-’84 Edmonton Oilers in the 2nd Round.

Players to Watch:

  • LW – Patrick Marleau – He is Mr. Shark. He’s been there for 17 years and was the captain for many of them. He’s the franchise record holder in games played (1,329), goals (456) and points (988). He’s second in assists with 532, behind only Joe Thornton.
  • RW – Owen Nolan – Arguably the most beloved Shark of all time. He was a fan favorite during his eight seasons with the franchise. He posted 206 goals, 245 assists, 451 points and 934 PIM’s in 568 games played. He was a tough bastard out there.
  • LW – Jeff Friesen – Another big fan favorite. More known for his speed, Friesen was a consistent offensive producer. In seven seasons as a Shark, he posted 149 goals and 201 assists for 350 points to go along with 316 PIM’s in 512 games played.

The tournament begins on tomorrow! The 1st Round will carry over into Wednesday and the Semifinal Round will take place on Thursday with the Final on Friday.
