Reigning Representatives, 2nd-seeded ’09-’10 Sharks Defeat 7th-seeded ’06-’07 Sharks in Six Games after Trailing in Series 2-1

Two goals in the second period led the 2nd-seeded ’09-’10 San Jose Sharks to a 2-1 win in Game 1. They would open a 2-0 lead just a little over four minutes into Game 2. However, in the following two and a half minutes, the 7th-seeded ’06-’07 San Jose Sharks would tie it at two all. There would not be another goal until ten plus minutes into overtime when Jonathan Cheechoo won it for the ’06-’07 Sharks. They would carry that momentum from overtime into Game 3 as they won 6-2. Joe Thornton posted a goal and two assists to led them offensively in the win. In Game 4, a PP goal from defenseman Rob Blake in the final minute of the first period, gave the ’09-’10 Sharks a 2-1 lead. Then, just after the 16 minute mark of the second period defenseman Kent Huskins scored an insurance marker that would finish off a 3-1 win for the reigning representatives. Two goals in seven seconds from Milan Michalek in the second period of Game 5 for the ’06-’07 Sharks made it a 3-2 game. However, Thornton reinstated a two goal lead in the third for the ’09-’10 Sharks and they held on for a 4-2 win. Joe Pavelski scored at the 6:08 mark of the second period to give the ’09-’10 Sharks a 3-1 lead and that would wound up becoming the game-winning and series-clinching goal for the reigning representatives.
