
The reigning representatives, the ’09-’10 Sharks, are heading to the 2015 San Jose Sharks Qualifying Final, after defeating the ’10-’11 Sharks in six games. The 2nd-seeded ’09-’10 San Jose Sharks started out hot by scoring three goals in the first period of Game 1. They wound up taking the opening game 4-1 with Dany Heatley posted two goals and two assists. The 8th-seeded ’10-’11 San Jose Sharks responded by winning Game 2, 3-2. Eight players registered a point for the ’10-’11 Sharks in the win with defenseman Dan Boyle being the only player to post more than one point, one goal and one assist. They then took Game 3, 4-3, with Joe Pavelski scoring the game-winning goal at the 11:39 mark of the second period. Patrick Marleau posted a hat trick and added an assist in Game 4 to lead the ’09-’10 Sharks to a 5-3 lead. Joe Thornton tallied three assists in the win. In Game 5, Marleau scored halfway through the third to tie the game 2-2 and forcing overtime for the ’09-’10 Sharks. Thornton then won it for the ’09-’10 Sharks almost three minutes into overtime. Game 6 was tied 2-2 after two periods before Thornton scored at the 9:09 mark to give the ’09-’10 Sharks a 3-2 lead. It took until there were just 18 seconds left in regulation for Logan Couture to score the tying goal for the ’10-’11 Sharks. However, 11 seconds after the Couture goal, Devin Setoguchi scored to give the ’09-’10 Sharks an incredibly late win to end the series.
