2nd-‘seeded ’09-’10 Sharks Defeat 8th-seeded ’07-’08 Sharks in Five Games to Clinch Spot in UNP Again

Three goals in just under nine minutes was all the 2nd-seeded ’09-’10 San Jose Sharks needed to take Game 1. Big winger Ryane Clowe accounted for two of them as they began the series with a 3-1 win. The 8th-seeded ’07-’08 San Jose Sharks then scored four goals in the second period of Game 2 to lead them to a 6-4 win. Joe Pavelski netted a hat trick while five other players registered a multi-point game for the ’07-’08 Sharks. Goaltender Evgeni Nabokov then stopped all 37 shots against for the ’09-’10 Sharks in a 3-0 shutout win in Game 3. Defenseman Dan Boyle tallied two assists in the win and was the only player with more than one point. The ’09-’10 Sharks’ big line dominated in Game 4. Patrick MarleauJoe ThorntonDany Heatley combined for 11 points as the ’09-’10 Sharks won 6-3. Marleau posted three goals and two assists while Thornton and Heatley combined for six assists. With momentum from that win, the ’09-’10 Sharks ended the series with a 2-1 win in Game 5.  Nabokov stopped 39 of 40 to lead the ’09-’10 Sharks in the win and back to the Ultimate NHL Playoff.
