The Pizza Line was a huge part of the 2015 Ottawa Senators (Modern) Qualifying Tournament and specifically for the ’05-’06 Senators as they clinched a spot in the Ultimate NHL Playoff, again. (via cbssports.com)

The series began with a PP goal from Jason Spezza just 51 seconds into Game 1, which would be the first of three goals for the top-seeded ’06-’07 Senators in that first period. Spezza than scored just 25 seconds into the third period to give the ’06-’07 Senators a 5-1 lead. The 3rd-seeded ’05-’06 Senators would get two goals back, but 5-3 would be the final. Then, Game 2 was tied 1-1 after two periods, but the ’05-’06 Senators scored three goals in the third with the last two coming from Daniel Alfredsson for a 4-1 win. The ’06-’07 Senators rebounded with a 3-1 win in Game 3 with Mike Fisher getting the GWG and Dany Heatley potting an empty-netter. Then, it was the ’05-’06 Senators’ turn to score three goals in the first period with Heatley accounting for two of them. He later got his hat trick with less than five minutes in the second period as the ’05-’06 Senators held on for a 4-3 win.

Next in Game 5, Patrick Eaves scored in the final minute of the second period to give the ’05-’06 Senators a 2-1 lead going into the third. Then, in the third, Alfie scored for the ’06-’07 Senators with just under nine minutes left. Then, Heatley scored with two plus minutes left to give the ’06-’07 Senators their first lead of the game and they held on for a 3-2 win. The ’05-’06 Senators then dominated Game 6 to force a Game 7. Spezza posted three goals and three assists to lead them to a 7-2 win. In Game 7, the ’05-’06 Senators got on the board first thanks to a goal from Heatley just over three minutes into the game. Almost five minutes later Spezza tied the game for the ’06-’07 Senators, but about three and a half minutes after that Peter Schaefer scored to give the ’05-’06 Senators the lead back. Then, in the second period, the ’05-’06 Senators scored three goals in a span of 11 minutes to take a 5-1 lead and force the ’06-’07 Senators to pull goalie Ray Emery for backup Martin Gerber. However, that would not change anything as the ’05-’06 Senators clinched a spot in the UNP with a 5-2 win.
