Game 2 was tied 2-2 after two and then Wayne Babych scored almost five minutes into the third to give the 6th-seeded ’80-’81 Blues a 3-2 lead. Then, just a minute and a half later, defenseman Jean-Guy Talbot netted a PP marker to tie the game right back up for the ’69-’70 Blues. The game remained tied 3-3 all the way into a second overtime where Goyette scored nine plus minutes into the second overtime for the ’69-’70 Blues. In Game 3, the ’69-’70 Blues opened up a 4-1 lead when Red Berenson scored almost three and a half minutes into the second period. They held on for a 4-2 win to take a 3-0 series lead. Then, in Game 4, defenseman Joe Micheletti scored the only goal of the game a little over six minutes into the second period as the ’80-’81 Blues won 1-0. Goaltender Mike Liut stopped all 31 shots against in the win. The ’80-’81 Blues continued their momentum into a 5-3 win in Game 5 as Babcyh’s two goals and one assist led the way. That momentum stopped in Game 6 as the ’69-’70 Blues ended the series with a 3-1 win. Goaltender Jacques Plante had another stellar game for the 2nd seed as he stopped 36 of 37 to lead them to the victory.
