The ’06-’07 Anaheim Ducks were the 18th seed in the inaugural Ultimate NHL Playoff. They began the tourney with an easy First Round matchup where they swept the 47th-seeded ’34-’35 St. Louis Eagles. They had a much tougher test in the Second Round, but were able to dispatch of the cup-winning ’73-’74 Philadelphia Flyers in six games. Then, in the Third Round, they found themselves down 3-2 in the series to the ’10-’11 Nashville Predators, but fought back to win the series in seven games. They’re tournament finally came to an end in the Quarterfinal where they fell to the 23rd-seeded ’79-’80 Buffalo Sabres in five games.

Players to Watch:

  • RW – Teemu Selanne – Duh.
  • LW – Paul Kariya – Together with Selanne, they were the franchises first dynamic set of “twins.” They lit opponents up game after game after game. Of course, the other set of “twins” I’m referring to are Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. Duh.
  • D – Scott Niedermayer – One of the best offensive-defenseman to ever play the game, Scotty was also incredibly good in his own zone. The defensive pairing of Niedermayer and Chris Pronger was ridiculously good.
