Two goals from Vincent Lecavalier in the third period led the 4th-seeded ’02-’03 Lightning to a 4-2 win in Game 1, but that would be their only win in this series. They trailed the 5th-seeded ’13-’14 Lightning 5-4 halfway through the third period when Martin St. Louis tied the game to eventually force overtime. St. Louis finally ended the game almost six minutes into double overtime to get the ’13-’14 Lightning on the board in the series. Hear is where I have to make a little reminder that when doing these simulations, I can only select the starting lineup for each team. Therefore, a player who was traded away during the season will still “play,” like St. Louis during the ’13-’14 season, could still see playing time, unfortunately. St. Louis played a key role for the ’13-’14 Lightning in Game 3 as he scored twice to lead them to a 4-2 win and a 2-1 series lead. Game 4 was tied 3-3 after two periods, but in the third, the ’13-’14 Lightning rattled off four unanswered goals to win 7-3. Ondrej Palat helped lead the way with two goals and an assist while defenseman Radko Gudas tallied an impressive four assists. Fellow defenseman Victor Hedman also had a big game with a goal and two assists. Palat had yet another stellar game in Game 5 as he scored all four goals for the ’13-’14 Lightning in their 4-1 win to seal the series. Goaltender Anders Lindback finished the series with his best game for the ’13-’14 Lightning as he stopped 31 of 32 shots against.
