Cup-Winning, Top-seeded ’74-’75 Flyers Easily Sweep 8th-seeded ’09-’10 Flyers

The top-seeded ’74-’75 Flyers easily took care of the 8th-seeded ’09-’10 Flyers in this series, outscoring them 18-5 in the four games. Goaltender Bernie Parent posted a 29-save shutout in Game 1 as the ’74-’75 Flyers won 5-0. Bill Barber scored twice while both Bobby Clarke and defenseman Tom Bladon registered two assists. The ’09-’10 Flyers took a 2-1 lead into the second period of Game 2, but the ’74-’75 Flyers won 5-2 with four unanswered goals. Rick MacLeish was just one of four Flyers to post a goal and an assist in the win. MacLeish then posted a three-point night in Game 3 as the top seed won 4-1. Meanwhile, Bladon posted his second multi-point game of the series with a goal and an assist. In Game 4, Clarke exploded for four points (2G, 2A) as the ’74-’75 Flyers completed the sweep with a 4-2 win. Claude Giroux scored both of the ’09-’10 Flyers’ goals in the losing effort. The ’74-’75 Flyers dominated from the start and outshot the ’09-’10 Flyers 170-110 in the series.
