After the 39th-seeded ’78-’79 Flames were able to steal a game on the 26th-seeded ’05-’06 Senators’ home ice in Game 2, they could not find a way back in the win column. The ’05-’06 Senators won it in five games and have now advanced from the First Round in both Ultimate NHL Playoffs.

Dany Heatley potted eight goals in the series and registered two hat tricks in the five games. All of this after now finding the net in the first two games of the series. Daniel Alfredsson was second in the team in goals behind Heatley with five. Alfie did lead the Senators in assists with nine while defenseman Wade Redden was second with seven. Alfie and Heatley were #1 and #2 in points for the Sens with 14 and 13, respectively. Those two were also tied for second on the team in plus/minus with +9 behind defenseman Zdeno Chara was a series-high +11. In net, Dominik Hasek wasn’t great, but he was good enough to hold off the Flames just enough. He finished the series with a 3.20 goals against average and a .905 save percentage.

It was some familiar faces that led the Flames offensively in this series after their run last year. Bob MacMillan led them in goals with five and then Guy Chouinard was second with four. Other than those two, only six other players scored a goal and two of those scored more than one goal. Chouinard was tied with Jean Pronovost for the team lead in assists with five while MacMillan was second with four. Chouinard and MacMillan were tied for the team lead in points with nine while Pronovost was second with six. Only four players for the Flames finished with a plus/minus that was not negative. Dan Bouchard was the starter for the Flames, but his backup, Reggie Lemelin, appeared in three games. Bouchard was not as good as he was in the inaugural tournament as he posted a 4.20 goals against average and a .856 save percentage.
