In a series that didn’t feature much offense, just 18 total goals in four games, and some very good goaltending, it was Roberto Luongo and the 22nd-seeded ’10-’11 Vancouver Canucks that out-dueled Ondrej Pavelec and the 43rd-seeded ’14-’15 Winnipeg Jets.

It was the usual gang who led the Canucks offensively in this series. Henrik Sedin and Ryan Kesler were tied for the team lead in goals with three. Then, there was a four-way tie for the team lead in assists, including both Henrik and Daniel Sedin, with three. Henrik and Daniel finished first and second in overall scoring with six and five points, respectively. Their linemate, Mikael Samuelsson, was third with four points. Defenseman Kevin Bieksa was Vancouver’s leader in plus/minus at +6 and there was four-way tie for second at +5, including fellow defenseman Dan Hamhuis. In the inaugural UNP, Luongo won the UNP Vezina Trophy as the tournament’s best goaltender and he got off to a good start to this one. He allowed just five goals in the sweep for a 1.25 goals against average to go along with a .957 save percentage. He concluded the series with a 30-save shutout in Game 4.

This was a series to forget for the Winnipeg offense. As I said, they only scored five goals and nobody scored more than once for the Jets. Jiri Tlusty posted two assists to lead them in apples, which also tied him for the team lead in points with Bryan Little and Michael Frolik, who both posted a goal and an assist. Surprisingly, the Jets did have a player finish above even in plus/minus with a rating of +1 and it was defenseman Tyler Myers. Pavelec was the best Jet in the series by far. He finished the series with a 3.25 goals against average and a .914 save percentage, but he did face over 40 shots against a game. So, he was pretty busy and stopped a hell of a lot of pucks.
