The 32nd-seeded ’37-’38 New York Americans were able to keep up offensively in the first two games, but the 33rd-seeded ’06-’07 Nashville Predators blew them away after Game 2.

John Sorrell was the main guy for the Americans offensively in this series. He led them in goals with three, was tied for the team lead in assists with three and led them in points with six. Three players were tied for second in goals with two while Eddie Wiseman was tied with Sorrell with three assists. Three players were also tied for second in assists at two. Then, behind Sorrell in overall scoring, New York had four players tied for second with three points, including Wiseman. Defenseman Hap Day was the only player to finish above even in plus/minus with a +1 while fellow defenseman Ching Johnson, who only appeared in three games, finished even. Goaltender Earl Robertson had his moments, but overall was not good. Of course, he was facing an offense that simply overpowered his team. He finished with a 1-4-0 record with a 4.80 goals against average and a .892 save percentage.

The offense came easy for the Preds in this series. 12 different players scored a goal and 13 different players registered a point. Longtime Predator David Legwand led them in goal scoring with five goals while Jason Arnott was second with four. Defenseman and the recently retired Kimmo Timonen led Nashville in both assists (9) and points (11) as he was a stud for them all series. Paul Kariya‘s six assists where second behind Kimmo and he was tied with Legwand for second in points at seven. Timonen also posted a team and series-high +12 for Nashville to lead them in plus/minus while fellow defenseman Ryan Suter finished second with a +8 mark. In goal, Tomas Vokoun was shaky at the start and was actually pulled in Game 2 after giving up five goals on less than 20 shots. However, he responded by allowing just one goal over the next two games on 56 shots against, including a 25-save shutout in Game 4. He finished the series with a 2.20 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.
