Here is the finished bracket for the 2016 Atlanta Thrashers Qualifying Tournament.

The ’08-’09 Atlanta Thrashers missed out on representing the franchise in the inaugural Ultimate NHL Playoff, but will now be its representative in both the second and third annual tourneys. They began this series with a 5-2 win in Game 1 behind a 46-save performance from Kari Lehtonen and two goals from Rich Peverley. Then, in Game 2, Peverley’s goal early in the third period turned out to be the game-winner for the ’08-’09 Thrashers as they earned a 2-1 victory. Lehtonen topped his performance from Game 1 with 47 saves in the win. In Game 3, the two teams were tied at two after the first period, with Marian Hossa scored both goals for the ’05-’06 Atlanta Thrashers, who, by the way, were the franchises representatives in the inaugural UNP. However, a goal each from Peverley and Colby Armstrong led the ’05-’06 Thrashers to a 4-2 win and a 3-0 series lead.

Courtesy of two goals from Patrik Stefan, yeah, remember him, the ’05-’06 Thrashers led 3-1 about halfway through the third period. However, the ’08-’09 Thrashers had it tied by the 16:43 mark of the third. Then, just 18 seconds into overtime, Hossa scored to get the ’05-’06 Thrashers their first win of the series and would start their 3-0 comeback. They took Game 5 by a score of 5-3 with Jaroslav Modry, surprisingly, leading the way offensively with two goals and an assist. They then forced a Game 7 with a 3-1 win in Game 6 as Ilya Kovalchuk scored twice. Game 7 was a bit of a disappointment. The ’08-’09 Thrashers won 5-0 to deny the ’05-’06 Thrashers’ the full 3-0 comeback. Kovalchuk was dominant for them as he potted a hat trick and added two assists. Meanwhile Todd White and Bryan Little totaled three points each.
