The ’79-’80 Sabres have been repeat representatives for Buffalo and have been able to reach at least the Quarterfinal in both Ultimate NHL Playoffs. They reached the Semifinal in the inaugural UNP, but lost to the 19th-seeded ’88-’89 Calgary Flames, who finished as the runners up. Then, in the Second Annual UNP, the ’79-’80 Sabres were defeated by the 15th-seeded ’00-’01 Colorado Avalanche in the Quarterfinal.

Players to Watch:

  • C – Gilbert Perreault – The first draft pick in the franchises history turned out to be the best player to ever wear a Sabres jersey. The Hall of Famer and legend of the game centered one of the greatest lines the league has ever seen, “The French Connection Line.”
  • LW – Rick Martin – Part 2 of the French Connection Line.
  • RW – Rene Robert – Part 3 of the French Connection Line.
