Here is the 2016 Vancouver Canucks Qualifying Tournament in its entirety.
For the second straight year, the ’95-’96 Vancouver Canucks fall in the qualifier final and this time it is to the ’09-’10 Vancouver Canucks, who stormed out of the gates offensively. They took the first two games by a combined score of 15-3. It was the line of Daniel Sedin–Henrik Sedin–Mikael Samuelsson that led the way in both wins. In a 9-2 Game 1 win, those three combined for 13 points with the Sedin twins accounting for 10 of them. Henrik scored five goals while Daniel tallied five assists on those five goals. In a 6-1 Game 2 win, those three combined for nine points with the Sedin twins accounting for seven of them. Henrik tallied four assists while Daniel scored a goal and added two assists. Meanwhile, Samuelsson scored twice.
The ’92-’93 Canucks won their only game of the series in Game 3 by a score of 6-2. The electrifying Pavel Bure scored twice and added two assists while his linemate Geoff Courtnall scored once and tallied two assists. The ’09-’10 Canucks responded with a 2-0 win in Game 4 on the back of a 30-save shutout performance from goalie Roberto Luongo. His opposite, Kirk McLean, had a nice night for himself stopping 36 of 38 shots against in the loss. The ’09-’10 Canucks closed out the series with a 7-4 win in Game 5. Henrik, once again, led the way as he scored a hat trick and added an assist while his brother totaled three points. Petr Nedved scored a hat trick of his own for the ’92-’93 Canucks in the loss. So, for the first time in UNP history, the Canucks representative will not be the ’10-’11 Canucks.
