Here is a little description of each team in the tourney:

  1. ’03-’04 Tampa Bay Lightning (46-22-8-6, 106 points (1st in Southeast), STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS, 0.56 SRS)
  2. ’14-’15 Tampa Bay Lightning (50-24-8, 108 points (2nd in Atlantic), Lost in Stanley Cup Final, 0.57 SRS)
  3. ’15-’16 Tampa Bay Lightning (46-31-5, 97 points (2nd in Atlantic), Lost in Conference Final, 0.30 SRS)
  4. ’13-’14 Tampa Bay Lightning (46-27-9, 101 points (2nd in Atlantic), Lost in First Round, 0.25 SRS)
  5. ’10-’11 Tampa Bay Lightning (46-25-11, 103 points (2nd in Southeast), Lost in Conference Final, 0.04 SRS)
  6. ’02-’03 Tampa Bay Lightning (36-25-16-5, 93 points (1st in Southeast), Lost in Conference Semifinal, -0.01 SRS)

The ’03-’04 Tampa Bay Lightning were 16th seed in the inaugural Ultimate NHL Playoff and were the lowest seed to receive a First Round Bye. In the Second Round, they ’03-’04 Lightning became the first team in UNP history to come back from a 3-0 series deficit when they did it against the 17th-seeded Carolina Hurricanes. Then, in the Third Round, they were swept by the eventual UNP Champions, the top-seeded ’76-’77 Montreal Canadiens. In the Second Annual UNP, it was the ’10-’11 Tampa Bay Lightning repping the franchise as the 18th seed. After an easy matchup in the First Round, they were eliminated in the Second Round by an eventual Semifinalist in the 15th-seeded ’00-’01 Colorado Avalanche.

Players to Watch:

  • RW – Martin St. Louis – The Lightning have had some dynamic offensive talents in their brief history and it begins with this man. He posted 953 points (365 G, 588 A) in 972 games played over 13 years. His assist and point total are franchise records.
  • C – Vincent Lecavalier – He was right alongside Marty basically their entire careers with the franchise. Vinny is second all-time in points behind St. Louis with 874 and is currently the franchise record holder in goals with 383, but that will soon be overtaken by the next guy on this list.
  • C – Steven Stamkos – An elite goal scorer and arguably the second-best sniper in the league today. In just 492 games with the Lightning, Stammer has posted 276 goals and 222 assists for 498 points in seven seasons.
