Here is the 2016 Los Angeles Kings Qualifying Tournament in its entirety.

On the back of a four-point (3G, 1A) performance from Marcel Dionne, the 6th-seeded ’80-’81 Los Angeles Kings took the opening game of the series. Then, Dionne scored the overtime winner in Game 2 to win it 4-3 for the ’80-’81 Kings. Dan Maloney scored all three goals for the 4th-seeded ’74-’75 Los Angeles Kings in the loss, who responded with a 5-1 win in Game 3. Juha Widing scored twice and added an assist to lead the ’74-’75 Kings. They tied the series up at two with a 5-0 win in Game 4 as goaltender Rogie Vachon stopped all 27 shots he saw while defenseman Neil Komadoski scored twice from the blue line. The ’74-’75 Kings had to score five goals in the third period to come back and win Game 5 by a score of 6-5 to take a 3-2 series lead. Butch Goring led the way offensively with a goal and two assists while Bob Nevin scored twice.

In the loss, both defenseman Larry Murphy and winger Jim Fox totaled three points for the ’80-’81 Kings. Then, in Game 6, it was the ’80-‘8 Kings who came back late in the third period. They scored twice in the last two and a half minutes, including with just 21 seconds remaining to force an overtime. Then, just under five minutes into overtime, longtime King Dave Taylor won it for the ’80-’81 Kings to force a Game 7. The ’80-’81 Kings then scored two PP goals towards the end of the first period of Game 7. However, the ’74-’75 Kings chipped away and by two minutes into third period, they led 3-2. The ’80-’81 Kings pulled their goaltender for the extra attacker, but the ’74-’75 Kings sealed the series and their second straight UNP berth with an empty netter from Gene Carr.
