Here is the 2016 New Jersey Devils Qualifying Tournament in its entirety.

The top-seeded ’02-’03 New Jersey Devils started out well by taking the two of the first three games in this series, but lost three of the next four. They took the opening game of the series with a 5-0 shutout. Goalie Martin Brodeur stopped all 26 shots he saw while Jeff Friesen posted three points (1G, 2A). Then, in Game 2, the 7th-seeded ’98-’99 New Jersey Devils won a close 3-2 game. Brodeur stopped 48 of 50 for ’98-’99 Devils while both Patrik Elias and Petr Sykora scored a goal and added an assist. The ’02-’03 Devils responded with a 3-2 win of their own in Game 3. Elias scored the game winner very early in the third period and along with defenseman Scott Niedermayer were the only two to post a multi-point performance in the win. In Game 4, the ’98-’99 Devils held a 2-0 lead after two period, but by the 11:27 mark of the third period, the ’02-’03 Devils had it tied up. The game went to overtime and ended when Niedermayer scored to tie the series for the ’98-’99 Devils.

Brodeur then got his second shutout of the series for the ’02-’03 Devils as they won Game 5 by a score of 4-0. Defenseman Brian Rafalski tallied four assists in the win while Friesen scored twice. Brodeur then responded with a 33-save shutout performance for the ’98-’99 Devils in Game 6 to force a tournament-deciding seventh game. Sykora and Bobby Holik led the way offensive with three points each (2G, 1A and 3A, respectively). In Game 7, the scoring started with a shorthanded goal early in the second for Elias and the ’02-’03 Devils. Defenseman Scott Stevens tied it for the ’98-’99 Devils with just over five minutes remaining in the second period. There would not be another goal until the 4:03 mark of overtime when enforcer Randy McKay completed the upset for the ’98-’99 Devils. They will be making their Ultimate NHL Playoff debut when the Third Annual UNP begins.
