Nighbor and 4th-seeded ’19-’20 Senators Explode in Sweep of 6th-seeded ’21-’22 Senators; Clinch First UNP Berth

Here is the 2016 Ottawa Senators (Original) Qualifying Tournament.

This series was all about offense, and more specifically, the offense from the 4th-seeded ’19-’20 Ottawa Senators. Even more specifically from Frank Nighbor. He finished this four game sweep with 12 goals and 16 assists for a total of 28 points. He had 10 points alone in Game 1 as the ’19-’20 Senators took the opening game by a score of 11-2. His linemate Jack Darragh posted three goals and three assists for a total of six points in the win. In Game 2, the two sides were tied at three after two periods, but the ’19-’20 Senators outscored the 6th-seeded ’21-’22 Ottawa Senators 3-1 to win 6-4. Nighbor, again, led the way with two goals and four assists while Punch Broadbent tallied four assists in the loss for the ’21-’22 Senators. Game 3 also finished 6-4 in favor of the ’19-’20 Senators as Nighbor scored gour goals and added two assists for six points. The sweep was completed with an 8-2 win in Game 4 for the ’19-’20 Senators. Nighbor posted six points, again, but Darragh had also had a big night as he tallied six assists. Defenseman Georges Boucher also starred in the series-clinching win with a goal and four assists.
