Here is the 2016 Edmonton Oilers Qualifying Tournament in its entirety.

This was a very high scoring series, as you would expect. It started out nine goals in the first period of Game 1 alone. The 7th-seeded ’82-’83 Edmonton Oilers took that opening game by a score of 9-7. Both Glenn Anderson and Wayne Gretzky scored twice while adding two assists for four point efforts. Meanwhile, defenseman Paul Coffey totaled five points (2G, 3A) in the loss for the top-seeded ’83-’84 Edmonton Oilers. Game 2 was a long one. It finally ended in the final minute of the third overtime as Ken Linseman scored to give the ’83-’84 Oilers an 8-7 win to get on the board in the series. The Gretzky’s on each team both lit it up as the ’82-’83 Oilers’ Gretzky totaled six points (3G, 3A) while the ’83-’84 Oilers’ Gretzky totaled five points (3G, 2A).

The ’82-’83 Oilers doubled up the ’83-’84 Oilers in an 8-4 win in Game 3. Naturally, Gretzky led the ’82-’83 Oilers in the win as they scored four times while adding two assists while Anderson pitched in with a goal and three helpers. The ’82-’83 Oilers then took a 3-1 series lead with a 6-4 win in Game 4. Jari Kurri had his biggest night of the series so far for the ’82-’83 Oilers with a goal and four assists as he was a part in five of their six goals. With their backs now up against the wall, the ’83-’84 Oilers cashed in in a major way in Game 5 as they won 10-6 to force a Game 6. This despite only outshooting the ’82-’83 Oilers by one. Gretzky scored five times in the win while adding two assists and Anderson pitched in for five points himself (2G, 3A). The ’83-’84 Oilers took a 5-3 lead into the third period of Game 6, however, by the 9:40 mark of the third, the ’82-’83 Oilers had it tied at five. The ’82-’83 Oilers then won it in overtime to complete the upset courtesy of a winner from Coffey. The franchise as a whole will now have had three different representatives in the three Ultimate NHL Playoffs.
