The ’73-’74 Boston Bruins have been the 4th in both the inaugural and Second Annual Ultimate NHL Playoffs. The advanced all the way to the Semifinal in the inaugural UNP before they were eliminated by the eventual UNP champions, the top-seeded ’76-’77 Montreal Canadiens. However, in the Second Annual UNP, they were upset in the Third Round by the 13th-seeded ’74-’75 Los Angeles Kings. Now, because of a slight tweak in who qualifies for these qualifying tournaments, the ’73-’74 Bruins are no longer in Boston’s qualifying tournament. So, there will be a new representative for the first time in UNP history for the Original Six franchise.
Players to Watch:
- C – Phil Esposito – He is a legend for a reason. He was a prominent member of multiple teams in this tournament.
- RW/D – Dit Clapper – Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1947, Aubrey “Dit” Clapper is just one of many “forgotten” legends because they played so long ago.
- D – Bobby Orr – Another legend to wear the Boston “B.” His style of play was a game-changer in the ’60s and ’70s.
The tournament results will be posted on the next weekday at 1 pm EST!
