The ’61-’62 Toronto Maple Leafs were the 2nd seed in the inaugural Ultimate NHL Playoff. After receiving a First Round Bye, they were swept by the 34th-seeded ’10-’11 Nashville Predators in what was arguably the most shocking upset of the inaugural tournament. Then, in the Second Annual UNP, it was the ’44-’45 Toronto Maple Leafs who were the 2nd seed and didn’t have any better of a performance as they were one and done as well. They fell to the 31st-seeded ’84-’85 Winnipeg Jets.
Players to Watch:
- LW – Frank Mahovlich – One of the most important pieces in the Maple Leafs’ last championships. He was also named an All-Star six straight years from 1961-1966.
- RW – George Armstrong – He is the franchises all-time leader in games played and was a member of multiple Stanley Cup winning teams.
- C – Syl Apps – Arguably the most important member of Toronto’s golden years of the ’40s. He was apart of seven Stanley Cup finals and came away with four Cup wins.
The tournament results will be posted on the next weekday at 1 pm EST!
